02AUG2019 - NEWS - Ardmore to meet IMO 2020 with 0.5pc sulphur fuel oil

New York-listed Ardmore Shipping said it will meet upcoming marine fuel emissions rules with 0.5pc sulphur fuel oil, and will use MGO if necessary.

Chief executive Anthony Gurnee said the firm is quite confident that there will be sufficient quantities of the former available from "reputable suppliers". In areas where that is not the case, the company will opt for MGO which will be "priced into the voyage".

Some vessels in Ardmore's fleet will be ready to start loading fuels compliant with the International Maritime Organisation (IMO) 2020 sulphur cap as early as September.
