The Employer

The Employer is one of Asia’s largest energy and trading companies with interest in Power, Coal, Oil, Solar and other sectors. Its Bunkering Division is setting up a new trading desk in Singapore and it is interested in bringing on board an experienced industry professional to join the team as:

Responsibilities

Key responsibilities include establishing and operating the Bunker Trading Desk in Singapore:

• In charge of developing and maintaining relationships with bunker suppliers, barge operators and shipping companies in and around the Singapore market.
• Source and supply bunkers within industry norms, both in and outside of Singapore.
• Negotiate longer-term contracts and spot business with trading house or bunker supplier companies.
• Utilise knowledge of local rules and regulations to ensure that conventions are followed.
• Establish good relations with oil trading companies and understand cargo trading.
• Responsible for daily liaising with suppliers and customers.
• Recommend clients on the most cost-efficient methods for their bunker needs.
• Form new supplier-trader relationships to grow the scale of operations.
• Conduct in-depth market research to detect potential customers.

Requirements
Ideal candidates will be experienced gasoil and fuel oil trading professionals. They will have:

• A degree or diploma from a reputed institution.
• Minimum 10 years of experience in oil or bunker trading/maritime/marine industry.
• Familiarity with all the latest IT software.
• Deep understanding of Singapore bunker pricing and Ex-Wharf pricing.
• Willing to travel for business development.
• Good English communication skills – both written and oral are essential.
• Strong commercial acumen and numerical sense. Ability to grasp financial and operational data.
• Strong planning and coordination skills.
