ENN will be able to offer LNG bunkering next year after it takes delivery of China’s first seagoing LNG bunker vessel, but uptake of the fuel in Chinese shipping is far from guaranteed. China’s first seagoing LNG bunker vessel is expected to begin operations next year, kicking off coastal LNG bunkering in the country just as tougher global rules on sulphur emissions from ships come into play. But LNG will face stiff competition in China as existing bunker players are gearing up to provide other low-sulphur marine fuels.
