Position Purpose & Summary Cargills Ocean Transportation (OT) is the Business Unit responsible for the carriage of Cargills and customers ocean borne liquid and dry bulk cargos. It procures approximately 2.5 million metric tons of fuel oil per year. The purpose of this role is to aggregate the constantly changing bunkers demand and coordinate their procurement and hedging. This role will work closely with all Cargill vessel-operating desks to provide the spot market reading and the physical purchasing and execution of all bunker requirements. This role is also responsible for the consolidation of bunker suppliers and in the creation of a roster of preferred partners around the globe; moreover, it will build and maintain relationships with key suppliers and brokers. This role will have ownership of the daily bunker market analysis and will closely liaise with the Proprietary Trading desk on potential market moving information. This role will be responsible for leveraging Cargills scale and magnitude and driving collaboration across the desks globally
Principal Accountabilities Execute on day-to-day bunker inquiries-50% Work on daily inquiries, cover suppliers, negotiate, book stems, and secure margin
Handle cancelations and amendments as needed. Ensure rigorous operations and smooth communication with customers
Provide view on market trends, and supply availability, IMO 2020 effect on the Bunker procurement supply chain
Manage claims professionally for positive commercial outcome
Benchmark purchasing performance on price and quality of physical suppliers Develop Cargills distinctive access to physical bunker supply-20% Assess structure of supply chain and Cargills commercial opportunities in target ports
Build relationships with physical suppliers as well as barge operators in target ports Analyze, define and quantify needs for term deals globally. Lead negotiation with suppliers-10%
Hedge the bunker fuel and gasoil exposure
Participate in assessing daily position and hedging strategies
Aggregation of the bunker demand through collaboration-10% Develop strong and effective working relationship with all desks/internal customers.
Maintain a constant dialogue with Vessel Operators and coach the on needs and requirements for optimal bunker procurement.
Market Reading and analysis-10% Oversee daily market analysis and reading.
Liaise with the Proprietary Trading Lead to execute plans.
Qualifications
Education, Experience, Skills
Minimum Required Qualifications
- Bachelors degree in business, finance, analytics, engineering or equivalent experience.
- 4-6 years Trading experience and ideally petroleum trading experience with proven skills in analysis, risk/reward, timing, bold execution and customer focus in freight and/or other commodities.
- Strong physical petroleum understanding, blending, operations, supply chain risks

Preferred Qualifications
- Account management skills
- Solid Petroleum knowledge, preferably in Gasoil, Fuel Oil and Crude Oil.
- Understanding of various charter party and voyage terms and conditions
- Experienced in making voyage calculations
- Mandarin speaker
- MBA or similar post-graduate qualification
- Commercial shipping studies
