[UTC] 27SEP2018 - NEWS - No delay in implementation of Shipping’s 2020 Global Sulphur Cap as per IMO

According to the statement from UN’s shipping agency on Tuesday, The International Maritime Organization (IMO) will not delay implementing a reduction in the amount of sulphur in marine fuel in 2020. From 2020, IMO rules will ban ships from using fuels with a sulphur content above 0.5 percent, compared with 3.5 percent now, unless they are equipped with so-called scrubbers to clean up sulphur emissions. This will be enforced by fines levied by the IMO’s member states.
