29AUG2019 - NEWS - Saras to sell IMO-compliant 0.5pc fuels in September

Italian refiner Saras will start sales of 0.5pc sulphur marine fuels at the Italian ports of Cagliari and Sarroch from 1 September.

The firm will also supply marine gasoil (MGO) and high-sulphur fuel oil (HSFO) at the ports. It will also be able to supply ships passing the Sicilian Channel and the Tyrrhenian Sea.

Saras' 300,000 b/d Sarroch refinery in Sardinia will produce the fuels.

Italian refinery Iplom and Israel's ORL started sales of 0.5pc marine fuel, with both firms shipping 30,000t cargoes to the Asia-Pacific region.

Market participants indicated 0.5pc fuel oil prices at a $65/t premium to west Mediterranean cargoes, equating to an outright price of $440.50/t based on yesterday's values.
