29AUG2019 - NEWS - Singapore: Industry veteran Simon Neo to head bunker consultancy SDE International

Singapore bunker industry veteran Simon Neo will head newly established marine fuels consultancy firm, SDE International Pte Ltd, after leaving the Asia arm of the International Bunker Industry Association (IBIA).

SDE will be focused in providing consultancy services related to bunker investigations, the establishment of port infrastructure for bunkering operations, standardisation of marine refuelling operations, regulatory advise for port authorities/administrations, IMO 2020 compliance, and more.

Neo, who will assume the Executive Director portfolio overseeing operations at SDE, shares the company works with several Singapore’s bunker industry experts known for their competence on respective marine fuel related fields including mass flowmeters, IMO legislation, bunker-related regulations, bunker-related standards and more.

“The reason we started this [SDE International] is because with IMO 2020 we felt that there will be a lot of issues coming up towards and post 2020. The IMO is also calling for its member States or other relevant authorities to establish or promote a licensing scheme for bunker suppliers. This is where we assessed that SDE could assist, as we have access to the relevant expertise,” he explains.
